Michelle Seaward: Beyond the Script

Full interview · 19:05. YouTube loads when you press play.

It started with birthday photos, curls, and a little catching up. Then I asked Michelle Seaward which of her creative roles she enjoyed most. She loved them all, but acting and dancing were at the top.

That gave us plenty to talk about.

Michelle and I go back, so this conversation was a chance to catch up on what she’s been creating. We talked about Black Therapy, where she plays a Baltimore council member, and the different sides she brings to that character.

Then we got into Blue Voodoo, the acting team she performed with at Baltimore’s Artscape. Their performance drew from Set It Off, including the bank robbery scene, with Michelle taking on the character played by Queen Latifah. We also talked about dance and her work with Black Diamond Crew, from live performances to music videos.

What I enjoy about conversations like this is getting beyond the finished image. You see the performance, but sitting down together gives you a chance to hear about the work, the people, and the connections behind it.

That’s what I want to keep sharing through Yo With The Camera: creative people, their stories, and the work they’re putting into the world.

Pull up a seat and spend a little time with us. Watch the full interview and tell us which part caught your attention.
